Most Knife Sharpeners agree that “PULL THRU ” Type knife sharpeners are not a good way of sharpening knives. They take a great deal of metal from the blade every time they are used. Professional knife sharpeners use either sharpening belts or sharpening stones, and most often a combination of both. If you take your knives to a professional sharpener every few months, they will be extremely sharp, and last for many years to come.
